Ephesians 6:10 – Power

It is written; “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.

With this in mind be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

(Ephesians 6 vs 10—18) NIV

One night I had a dream, and in this dream, I was standing in a room full of people.

As I stood there, the people separated into two groups and I found myself looking at a woman on the other side of the room.

To begin with, her appearance was quite normal.

But as she looked at me, her face began to twist and distort with alarming speed, as the hatred in her became more and more manifest.

Suddenly she thrust out her hand towards me, and out of her fingers came cords that struck my shield arm to one side.

Again, she thrust out her hand, and the cords struck my sword arm aside with contemptuous ease.

I was now completely exposed and felt very afraid.

We are told, to take up the shield of faith, to extinguish all the fiery darts of the enemy.

And the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

But we still have to learn how vitally important they are,

and know how to use them.

She flung out her hand a third time and the cords wrapped around my chest and began to tighten.

As it is written; “The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me. The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me.    (Psalm 18 vs 4 and 5) NIV

I woke up in a state of great panic, and lay there in the dark.

It had been a vivid and terrible dream.  I didn’t want to wake my wife because I knew we had been very tired when we went to bed.

As I lay there, the tiredness returned, and as I began to fall asleep, I felt the cords begin to tighten again.

I forced myself awake. I now knew that this was no longer a dream, but was actual and real.

I could see a being standing at the end of the bed.

In spite of the terror, I kept battling with the overwhelming waves of tiredness and each time I closed my eyes, the cords tightened.

This wasn’t internal, as in, a heart attack.

But an external spiritual assault on my life.

It wasn’t painful, but the pressure being exerted on my frame was intense.

It felt like two enormous hands around my chest, trying to squeeze the life out of me.

I knew that going to sleep was not an option. I had to fight.

From the moment my sword arm had been brushed aside, even though it was still in my hand, I couldn’t recall even one Scripture. My mind was a total blank.

It didn’t seem like this fight was going to last very long.

Then the Holy Spirit reminded me of the one whom all Scripture points to; JESUS

I began to speak out his name over and over.

And as I repeated his name, another two words were given. IS LORD.

As I spoke this truth, JESUS IS LORD, the Scriptures were restored to me.

It is written; “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?”    (Hebrews 1 vs 14)

So, I cried out; “Lord send your angels to deal with this thing, and instantly I was aware that there were two angels outside the bedroom window.

Again, I cried out; “Lord tell them to take it away”

The Lord said; “They will take it away, but it is in your home, and what is in your home, is your responsibility.

To allow, or to disallow.

Command it to leave your home in my name.

So, I said; “Unclean spirit, get out of my home, in Jesus’ name, and it departed.

Through the bedroom window, I saw the angels lay hold of it and like lightning they sped away.

I settled down to sleep again and the remainder of the night was peaceful.

In the morning when I woke, my wife said to me; “Wow, you had a restless night, tossing and turning and praying in tongues.

What was going on?”

I thought I’d been very quiet, but apparently not. Anyway, I was pleased to still be around to tell her.

Later that day, I questioned the Lord, as to how my body was able to cope with the intense pressure applied by the cords, and he told me it was because the breastplate of righteousness was in place.

This righteousness we have, is not our own, but Gods free gift to us who are in Christ Jesus.   Hallelujah!!

Blessings John
