Good afternoon church family,

This week I was asked to write a prayer to share with other Baptist pastors. For those of us who are in the trenches we long to see revival again; for hearts who have never met Jesus to come to know him for the first time. As I sat and considered how I should pray, I realised that often when we pray we pray in hope that something might happen. I then remembered that some of the great prayer warriors in the Bible had a different strategy. Take Moses for example, when he would pray for the people he often reminded God of His promises. He was saying God I know who you are, how good and faithful you are, please help us. It was a prayer of declaration and confidence that God would help.

So here is the prayer I wrote:

Lord, in John 4 you said to your disciples, “I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” So God we declare that we are ready and waiting. We have been working hard in your fields; Lord of the harvest would you come and direct us as we begin to reap for your Kingdom. Amen

Now I’m trusting that God will help us in this work at Rimutaka!

Blessings

Laurie
