In Genesis 28, we read the extraordinary account of Jacob’s encounter with God. Instead of sanctioning him, though, God blessed Jacob. Jacob did the right thing by recognizing God and worshipping Him, but he was mistaken in making his acceptance of God conditional upon his own human terms, rather than trusting God entirely.
