How do we trust like a child? What do we need to do to inherit eternal life? How can we overcome pride? These are all questions addressed by Jesus in Luke 18, verses 9 to 29. Through the parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector, Jesus shows us how pride gets in the way of our relationship with the Father. Jesus encourages us to forget about our “grown-up” concepts of God and rather trust in Him like a child trusts in its parents. Just like the rich man, we all have something we are unwilling to give up for the Kingdom of God. Jesus encourages us to leave everything behind and follow Him, just like Peter and the disciples did. The rewards of trusting God are both for this life and the life to come.
