This week we focus on Joy as we continue in our Advent journey. In Luke 2 verse 10, the angel of God appears to shepherds at night with the message: “I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. ” Joy is different from happiness. Happiness is a transitory feeling we experience when something good happens, but Joy is enduring and can be experienced even in the midst of suffering. The necessary ingredient for Joy is Jesus. When Jesus is in our lives, we can unlock the heavenly arsenal of Joy as His light shines in the darkness of this world and in our hearts.
