Good morning Church family,
I hope you had a good weekend; it was so nice to have some rain. This morning I was wondering what God might be building in His Church through this experience of living through a pandemic. Perseverance came to mind. James 5:11 says “As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.”
If you think about it, most of us have not lived through something this significant in our lifetimes before. We have heard stories throughout history of events that have challenged humanity and how this too shall pass. But it is a totally different experience when you are living through it yourself and get to feel every emotional as a result. At the moment we are in the process of persevering, we take each day as it comes and survive it, some days are good, others are bad, but we keep getting up and putting one foot in front of the other. We are learning the art of perseverance.
Something that jumped out for me in the verse above is the part about seeing what the Lord finally brought about by His compassion and mercy. Something incredible is coming, God is going to do something amazing, it is not known to us yet but once we are beyond this we will look back and know God did something great and we have been blessed to witness it as a result of our perseverance. And we are going to celebrate! Jesus truly is the lifter of our heads, like they say when you are climbing up something of height, don’t look down look up!
