Good morning Church family,
I have just been reading Tozer’s book Living as a Christian again. It was a fascinating chapter this morning, it was entitled the Christian cannot be harmed. If you are like me you question that statement, I have felt harmed before. But let me explain writes Tozer, don’t you understand that who you are is more than body, you are spirit and soul. Of course someone or something can harm your body but they or it can never touch your soul. Even if the worst harm is done to your body, as a child of God the very essence of who you are remains as it was, it is and will always be. It is untouchable. If you understand that fact then you begin to realise that the only harm that can be done to you, is the harm you do to yourself in believing you can be harmed.
For example, if someone hurls an insult at you, and you take it in, allowing it to discourage you, make you bitter or even hate then you have harmed yourself because you let it in. Tozer says adjust your mindset see it for what it really is…just a person hurling insults that can’t touch you, it just mere words, and then watch as it looses it power over you. You remain a deeply loved and cherished child of God. Psalm 103:1-5 says “Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
Blessings
