Good morning church family
It has been so good to have a rest over the long weekend, I took an extra day off on Tuesday as we have spent many hours recently editing videos. I am so pleased that God instituted the Sabbath, He knows the importance of rest. When one thinks of rest in the Bible one cannot help but to be drawn to Psalm 23: “The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul….”
Have you ever noticed that the word rest features in the word restore? Without rest one can hinder God’s work to restore us spiritually. In a world that is becoming increasingly fast paced God whispers to us take some time to rest; allow Him to refresh your soul for when you need to start up again.
I was also reading Psalm 106 today and come across this verse “But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his plan to unfold” (verse 13) Rest teaches us to be patient, to trust that if we stop “doing”, everything is going to be okay. God has a plan and even that takes time. It is also a reminder that in the rush to get things done we miss out on the parts of the journey God wants us to experience. It’s time to slow that pace and take a break when we need too.
