Good morning Church family

Today’s verse on the Bible app is 2 Corinthians 3:17 “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” What jumped out at me there is the word freedom. You see the word freedom has many different meanings. What is freedom in Christ mean? The Greek word there is Eleuthera which means liberty. Liberty can mean the freedom or the ability to do or not do something. Liberty can also mean to do as one pleases. But listen to what the Greek Lexicon (dictionary) says, when we talk about freedom or liberty from a Christian perspective it says, true liberty is living as we should not as we please. Profound!

The Spirit of the Lord is the only true source of truth and so God’s ways are guaranteed to set us free even when we find that a hard task. Doing what we please may not necessarily work out for us as we are sinful people. So perhaps we can add to that definition and say true liberty is living as we should by what is pleasing to God not ourselves. Fascinating stuff!!

Blessings

Laurie
