Thursday, 15 October 2020 – Wise people discern God’s will

Good afternoon Church family

Today we continue to unpack what wisdom is. Yesterday we learnt that in order to be wise we must follow in the footsteps of Jesus who is the wisdom of God. Ephesians 5:15-17 says “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.” So part of being wise is being able not only to follow but to discern what the will of God is. As God has perfect knowledge He is always able to guide us on paths that are good for us.

So how can we discern God’s will? Well if we have a problem we need to turn to scripture and see what it says on the subject, we need to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help us find understanding; we need to continue to seek answers. When something comes up, then we need to test it, is this of God, we might even seek the wise counsel of other Christians. My experience is that in doing all these things you will come to a sense of peace about your problem and you will see God leading you and opening the doors required to solve it. You will know in your mind and your heart that you are on the right track.

Blessings

Laurie
