Wednesday, 12 May 2021 – Practical Apprentices

Good afternoon church family,

You know how we have been focusing of what it means to be good practical apprentices to Jesus, well Micah 6:8 is actually a good summary. It says “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

Justice is something that is important to God because like I said on Sunday the character of God is not just what He does (ensuring justice is served),it is who He is (Justice is part of the very nature of God, He wouldn’t be God if He wasn’t just). God always tempers His justice with mercy too because God is love and being followers of God we should follow in His footsteps. We show others mercy because we have been on the receiving end of God’s grace and mercy. Our walk with God should be humble because we realise that He has supremacy over us and will sustain us in every way.

But here is the thing, it is not enough to know these things about God as apprentices, we have to take an active interest in doing them. This is how we mature and grow in the faith.
