Thursday, 9 September 2021 – Hesed and Storks

Good Afternoon Church Family,

Last night at Bible study we looked at the story of Ruth and Naomi, and how it showcases the loyal love God has for those he loves. The Hebrew word is Hesed and it is hard to translate and illustrate it’s full meaning. But it is like the bond a mother has with a child, except in God’s case it is a bond that is unbreakable and eternal. Did you know that God has such an unbreakable bond with you personally, the kind that we see Ruth have with her mother-in-law Naomi. Interestingly the word hesed is similar to the Hebrew word for stork. Storks are birds that strongly bond with and care for their chicks. That is why they are associated with babies in folklore, it’s actually a biblical example of God’s love for you and me. How’s that for a biblical fun fact!

Blessings

Laurie
