Good afternoon Church Family,
This week at Bible Study we looked at some of the parables that give us insight into the return of Christ and what life is like after death. The one that stood out for me was the Parable of the Ten bridesmaids in Matthew 25. Five were wise and five were foolish. The difference between the two groups came down to preparation. The wise bridesmaids were in fact, we discovered overly prepared, enough so that no matter the situation they would not have been found wanting. Verse 10 says the bridesmaids who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. The five foolish ones on the other hand thought they had prepared enough but they had not really given their full effort, or made the bridegroom a real priority. They were there because of what they could get out of the process and their hearts were far from where they should have been. Could they really have been serious about their relationship with the bridegroom? In verse 12, they discover that they are locked out and not known by the bridegroom (God). They were fake bridesmaids.
So what did we learn? We found that because we don’t know the time or the date the best way ahead is to actually prepare for it as if it were tomorrow. We all agreed you don’t want to be found wanting if Jesus turned up on your doorstep! We want to be wise and make God our priority.
Blessings
