Good afternoon Church Family
Today I have been thinking about hope. Every human being needs hope to overcome and survive the challenges that life throws at us. So what is hope exactly, what are it’s characteristics and how can I get myself a portion of it when I need it most?
Paul has an interesting take on hope. In Romans 8:24 he says “For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have?” So hope is not something seen. I wonder how many times we are waiting for something to happen to be hopeful. It’s no wonder then that we feel hopeless when times get tough. Instead Paul tells us, hope is rather an expectation and that that expectation should centre on Jesus. If I keep my eyes on Jesus, if I focus on Him and not on how big my problem is, hope will begin to bubble up. I also know that Jesus has ultimate power over my problem and that He is the solution to it and so I can be hopeful because Jesus is faithful and can be trusted. I can learn to wait for God’s perfect timing and not loose hope.
May you know the hope found in Jesus today!
Blessings
