Wednesday, 30 September 2020 – In the Fire

Good morning Church Family

“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to present a defense to you in this matter. If our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire and out of your hand, O king, let him deliver us. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods and we will not worship the golden statue that you have set up” Daniel 3:16-18 NRSV. Yet another incredible act of faith requiring costly obedience and again God is faithful; a fourth man is seen in the fire “with the appearance of God” and the three men emerge unharmed without even a hint of smoke on their person.

It made me think of the words of the song by Hillsong called Another in the Fire based off of this scripture. It says:

There was another in the fire
Standing next to me

There was another in the waters
Holding back the seas

And should I ever need reminding
Of how I’ve been set free

There is a cross that bears the burden
Where another died for me

Blessings
Laurie
