Good afternoon Church family,
At Bible Study the last few weeks we have been looking at God’s overall story that is seen recorded throughout Scripture. At first reading, it seems like the God of the Old Testament is quite different from the God of the New Testament. But that can’t be because God’s nature never changes. Take grace for instance. Was grace only something that came about after Jesus died on the cross? Well we have been learning that God has always been a God of Grace right from the beginning. Let me explain…
When Adam and Eve sinned God did not abandon them, He made clothes for them. They had to face the consequences of their actions but God was always open to having a relationship with them. When Cain killed Abel, God’s justice was enacted but God still protected his life which could have ended at the hand of others in retribution and so the list goes on in every generation. Before giving the law to the Israelites we find God saying to them “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the Lord your God.’ ”” Numbers 15:41 NIV. God always saves first, gives grace first and then teaches us His ways so that we might live under His Blessing. He is the same yesterday, today and forever!
Blessings
Laurie
