Thursday, 19 November 2020 – Steadfast Love

Good afternoon Church family

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23

This is such an interesting verse. First it speaks of God’s love never ending, His mercies constantly available. So why does the writer say they are new every morning? Interestingly, it is because it is a figure of speech in the Hebrew. It means that God’s mercies can be rediscovered with great joy after a night of distress. When the darkness threatens to discourage us, the breaking of a new dawn should remind us that God’s love and mercies are still available to us each day. If all we can do is take it one day at a time, God will meet us where we are at.
