Good morning Church family
Christmas is two days away now, we are almost there! So what can we do this advent in final preparation for the day when we reflect on the Hope we have been given in Jesus. Well it might surprise you, but I think it’s repentance. Throughout the Old Testament we see every generation having periods where they fall away from God and other times when they wholeheartedly move to repent and make sure that their hearts and minds are made right before God.
Then we read “In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’ ”” Matthew 3:1-3 NIV
Can I encourage you as a good spiritual discipline in this season to make an honest assessment of your faith journey. If there are things that you need to ask God’s forgiveness for, do it. If there are areas of weakness that you need Him to help you transform, pray and ask for His help. As we prepare for Christmas let our hearts be made ready to once again receive the generous gift of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
