Good afternoon Church family
The verse for today in the Bible App is “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18 NIV
I am grateful for verses like this in scripture because they are deeply encouraging. It is important to remind ourselves that this world is only temporary and that we are destined for eternity. The reason Paul writes this is because if we only look at what is seen we will become easily overwhelmed, and lose hope but if we knowingly broaden our view to include what God has planned for us in eternity, then we will find cause to hope again.
Next time you are facing something difficult how about making time to look at it from two angles. Acknowledge the seen and how you feel, avoiding that is never good, but then try to form in your mind how this might work out given God’s view of eternity. Let that truth be a part of what brings peace to the surface in your heart again. Remember this is truth controlling our emotions, calming our hearts causing our wills to come into alignment and we will cope much better with the things that are hard if we allow the Spirit to comfort and reassure us in this way.
Blessings
