Good afternoon Church family
“For thus says the high and lofty one who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with those who are contrite and humble in spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.” Isaiah 57:15 NRSV
Contrite means to acknowledge our fallenness, to repent and seek God. It takes a humble person to be contrite as pride often stands in our way of acknowledging those negative areas of our nature which we often choose to ignore. But notice, when we are vulnerable before the Lord and honest with our need for help and redemption, He promises to revive our spirits. Have you ever been downcast in your spirit because you have done something wrong? Well God wants us to notice that feeling and learn from it. He doesn’t want us to stay there bound up by guilt and feel worthless. He will lead us, reviving our spirit comforting us like a parent does to a child that has been misguided, telling us it’s okay, we can do better and then lead us on a better path.
What areas of your life do you need to face at the moment? Allow God’s Spirit to revive that area as you repent and seek His involvement in those things, ask Him to lead you and empower you to overcome those things.
