Good afternoon church family,

One of my favourite stories in the Old Testament is about King Hezekiah and his reign. The Bible says“Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after him. He held fast to the Lord and did not stop following him; he kept the commands the Lord had given Moses. And the Lord was with him; he was successful in whatever he undertook. He rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him.” 2 Kings 18:5-7 NIV

One one occasion Hezekiah receives a threatening letter from an enemy king Sennacherib. Hezekiah takes the letter into the temple and spreads it out before the Lord and God comes to his rescue, the enemy army is destroyed by God’s hands alone and Sennacherib is assassinated by his own sons.

I love this story because it shows God’s fierce love for His people. It also highlights the characteristics of one who follows God wholeheartedly, trust, obedience and perseverance.

If you have something that is concerning you today, can I encourage you to bring it before the Lord and then leave it in his hands, you continue to trust, obey and persevere until He shows you the way ahead, just like he did for Hezekiah.
