Good morning church family,
This week I have been reflecting on Justice. What does God’s justice look like in the world. Let’s turn to the word of God.
“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8 NIV
“Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.” Isaiah 1:17 NIV
God’s justice is multifaceted, we don’t get to choose one form of justice over another. We are to respond to injustice in whatever shape or form it presents itself in as Christians. God has taught us what that looks like in his word. Notice here that justice requires action and mercy. To right a wrong we need to act but we also need mercy because if we act without mercy, without forgiveness then justice from a human standpoint often becomes revenge. We need the walk humbly because only God can empower us to find healing from the hurt to forgive and the courage to act because He is the one who did it for us. Jesus both acts and shows us mercy. He led the way!
Blessings
