John 11 tells of the resurrection of Lazarus. In this chapter we see that although God knows the outcome of all things, yet He sympathizes which us and shared in our grief. Even though Jesus knew that He would resurrect Lazarus, he still shared the grief of Martha and Mary. Verse 35 is one of the shortest and most well-known verses in the New Testament, and simply states “Jesus wept.” How wonderful that we worship a God who doesn’t diminish our grief, but rather joins us in grieving when we go through personal loss. We see that Jesus also wants us to live by believing in Him, trusting Him even when we can’t see that He is at work.
