Good afternoon Church Family
I was just thinking today, boy this has been a tough year! A year none of us expected; none of us knew we would be facing a pandemic alongside the usual ups and downs of life which let’s be honest can be so hard at times. Sometimes it’s hard to put on a brave face, sometimes we need to just express how we are feeling. Jesus’ disciples faced similar times.
Jesus once told them, “Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy. A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world. So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. In that day you will no longer ask me anything.”
How comforting to know that sadness and grief are only with us in this life, that God has promised there will come a time when joy will not be robbed from us. Interestingly Jesus continues on by saying “Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.”
Jesus is saying if you need anything at all don’t hesitate to ask in my name. My father in heaven will hear you and respond and despite what you are facing you will come to experience through your connection with me a fullness of joy that will carry you through.
May you find rest in the Lord today!
